CADIA Challenge 2012
Lake District 24 Peak Challenge
After completing the National 3 peaks in 2010, the Snowdonia 15 Peaks in 2011 and raising just short of £20,000 the challenge for 2012 is the Lake District 24 Peaks.
The Lake District 24 challenge is a 32 mile, 51 km trek, with over 4,200m of accent. Most people attempt to complete the walk over a 48 hour period; we will endeavour to finish within 24 hours. This will mean walking through the night on some of England's most demanding trails and peaking England's highest peaks, Scafell Pike 978m and Helvellyn 949m
To help motivate us on the challenge we have targeted to raise £20,000 for the Gatwick Diamond Charities. The fantastic feedback we receive from the charities on how they are able to use the money we raise and the positive outcome it gives to so many people is often more than enough to drive us onto succeed in such a tough event.
Training for this year's walk starts on the 22nd of Jan with a 15 mile walk around the Severn sisters and Friston Forest. We then start weekly walks from early March and finally add in one or two longer 20+ mile walks in the Lake District to familiarise ourselves with the route.
